Britney Spears – Double Pop Standard

Britney Spears | Britney Spears Scandal, Britney Spears Update | Sunday, 03 February 2008

Britney Spears has had her share of troubles in the past few years. Included in the long list of PR violations are a marriage in Vegas that lasted for 48 hours, a messy divorce, a custody battle for her two children, a distanced relationship from her immediate family, an entourage quitting left and right, rehab stints and photo shoots and interviews gone bad. However, celebrities are not strangers to drama. A few of her close friends named Lindsay and Paris have done jail times, but we have yet to see a spears “Oops!” mugshot. Why is Spears being torched by the media while others get away with it?

Musicians are always getting into trouble. Hard rock and rap artists are notorious for drama, rehab and jail time. Britney, the one-time princess of pop, has had her dramatic transition from pre-teen to young adult, splashed on the front pages of the tabloids. Madonna, a media sweetheart as a matured A-lister, had her share of teenage troubles, and rock bands like Aerosmith have had drug problems and relationship battles as well. Is there a double standard for Britney? It’s true that Britney has gone from pre-teen virgin to a rehab hopping divorcee, but does that make her a celebrity we should write off for good? Britney sold a record 500,000 copies of her Oops! I Did it Again album, on its opening day and she has toured the world playing to sold out audiences. Britney has obviously done something right, and now that she has done a few things wrong, she has nowhere to go but up-or so we hope. Optimists predict these troubled days will mold Britney into a more complex and interesting artist and performer-if she can find her footing once again. Websites like, Britney Spears I Believe, predict a big comeback for the popstar. If other musicians can have roller coaster lives, can’t Britney as well?

Rags to riches stories are as classic at the concept that sex sells. Artists who have come from tragedy or worked their way up to beat the odds are glorified in the media. Well, Britney has amazing odds to beat. So if tragedy are what inspires depth of artistic skill, we may be looking out for an amazing comeback to Britney. A reinvention perhaps. Madonna has done it many times, and if Britney can reinvent herself and grow from her pain, are we all in for a surprise? Can beauty be born from this tabloid named, ‘trainwreck of a celebrity’ we see before us today? Afterall, isn’t drama, pain, emotion, tragedy and chaos what the entertainment industry is all about? Who likes a boring pop star anyways?

The faux pas happened after she gave a critically panned performance at the awards event.

Spears hit the Luxor club around 1 a.m. and within half-hour, she gulped down two vodka-sodas and a kamikaze or two, reports The New York Daily News.

According to a source, ’she just kept saying, ‘Y’all, this is so much fun’.”

The mum of two was seen without her underwear as she got into a waiting limousine outside the hotel.

The singer has been repeatedly exposing her undercarriages during public appearances.

“What is she thinking? She’s a mother of two and here she is flashing her goods to the world,” Contactmusic quoted the source, as telling Wenn

Britney Spears – The Next Anna Nicole Smith

Britney Spears | Britney Spears Scandal | Sunday, 26 August 2007

Britney let’s face it, you are not comfortable being yourself. For some reason, a very good reason, you want to emulate other female celebrities. There is nothing wrong with that.

How many of us grew up wanting to be like some one we saw on TV? Nearly everyone of us find a celebrity to attach ourselves to. The problem with you Britney is, you are choosing the wrong celebs to model yourself after.

Your problems rest in your constant need for FAME. Another celebrity that was famous for almost nothing had the same addiction. Her name was Anna Nicole Smith. Fame is the drug that killed her. Smith simply couldn’t get enough of herself. She just had to be in the spotlight. When the positive spotlight ran out she had to turn to the negative spotlight. That is where she remained for a decade before dying.

You see, Smith loved her fame. She didn’t like the jokes, the criticism, the painful comments people were making about her, so she turned to drugs to ease the pain.

She was once famous for being somebody. She was a playboy model. Once it was some one else’s turn she had to be pushed to the side. Now she is known for something completely different…Her sad sad story.

This is road you have turned on Britney Spears. It is a dangerous path filled with hazards. Luckily, there are warning signs to let you know of the dangers you are about to encounter. One of the roadsigns is “Anna Nicole Smith Dead at age 39?.

The problem with your addiction to fame is that your addiction is an unsubstantial addiction. Your addiction is different from alcohol, drugs, and cigarettes. Your addiction is more in line with a sexual addiction.

You are in rehab. Ask your doctors which additions are the hardest to overcome. They will tell you it is easier to break an addiction to drugs and alcohol than it is to break the addiction to sex or pornography. Addictions that have no substance are mental addictions. They stay in a persons mind, always there suppressed waiting for the moment to materialize. In an instant that person can degenerate back to that addiction

You have a horrible addiction and if it is not dealt with soon, you will end up dead. It would be okay if you were addicted to positive fame, but for some reason you want any kind of fame you can get!

Britney Spears, you were once famous for something. You were, and still are, famous for singing. If you want fame…Release another album. Go on tour. Start a reality TV show with K-Fed on MTV. Do something positive!
