Britney Spears Panties in News – Once Again

Britney Spears | Britney Spears News, Britney Spears Picture, Britney Spears Scandal | Wednesday, 12 September 2007

Britney Spears was yet again caught flashing her panty less private parts – this time at a party after MTV Video Music Awards on Sept 9.

The faux pas happened after she gave a critically panned performance at the awards event.

Spears hit the Luxor club around 1 a.m. and within half-hour, she gulped down two vodka-sodas and a kamikaze or two, reports The New York Daily News.

According to a source, ’she just kept saying, ‘Y’all, this is so much fun’.”

The mum of two was seen without her underwear as she got into a waiting limousine outside the hotel.

The singer has been repeatedly exposing her undercarriages during public appearances.

“What is she thinking? She’s a mother of two and here she is flashing her goods to the world,” Contactmusic quoted the source, as telling Wenn

Can Britney Spears Recover from Her VMA Performance?

Britney Spears | Britney Spears News, VMA Performance | Wednesday, 12 September 2007

Sunday night was supposed to be Britney Spears’ big comeback.

Britney Spears VMA

Her VMA showing marked her first real performance since, well, I can’t even remember. And it was a dismal failure. For once, all the reviewers — from the bloggers to the television personalities to the mainstream print publications — agreed. Britney Spears sucked hardcore.

The first problem is that her performance was over-hyped. She’d been driving (and drinking) all over L.A. with illusionist Criss Angel, who was supposed to be creating a visually stunning comeback performance with her. For reasons that haven’t been officially announced — some sources are reporting that MTV couldn’t get insurance for Britney’s risky on-stage tricks, while others are saying MTV felt the performance would be too controversial — Britney ended up doing a very standard stage show. The deck was stacked against her from the start; people expected smoke and mirrors, and what Britney had was a few back-up dancers. But what really hurt her fans, myself included, is that it felt like Britney didn’t even try.

A website recently collected the YouTube videos of Britney’s past VMA performances. I actually got chills watching them. Say what you want about Britney’s vocal abilities, or about her personal life or antics, but this young woman used to be an absolutely phenomenal performer. She connected with her audience immediately, and she always put on an engaging, high-energy show. It’s the Britney we were all so excited to see again — finally! — on Sunday night. But that Britney never showed up. The woman on the stage was just going through the motions, as if none of it meant anything. And that is what has her fans angry.

So: can Britney Spears recover from this? The question I’m asking myself after the VMAs is more along the lines of does Britney Spears want to recover from this? I wonder if she’s just given up. I can’t say I blame her. The unwavering media scrutiny, the failed marriages, the allegations of terrible mothering. If I were Britney, I’d look back at my past performances and think to myself, “So this is what all that hard work earned me? F— this.” I think Britney Spears got over us way before we got over her. She’s been going through the motions, because this is the only work she knows how to do, but her heart hasn’t been in it for some time now.

I’d like to say there’s no recovering from this for Britney, but I think there is. I think that whenever she’s ready to show up and put on an amazing show again, we’ll be ready to watch it and cheer her on. We watched Britney grow up. We listened to her albums, cheered at her performances, read about her in magazines, saw her on TV, and, if you can believe it, some people even saw Crossroads. She was the face of a generation. We idolized her. And then we watched her fall apart. But if there’s anything the public loves as much as a good trainwreck, it’s a great comeback. When Britney’s ready to do that, the audience will still be there.

For now, I think Britney would be wise to move away from Los Angeles, perhaps back home to Louisiana. Spend some time with your parents and your kids, Britney. Stay out of the bar. Get therapy. Get your head on straight. Figure out what you want to do with your life, and then do it with the drive and ferocity we used to see in you. If it’s singing and dancing, that’s great, we’ll be here to watch you. If it’s something else entirely, that’s great, too. But I think it’s clear, darling, to everyone but you, that whatever you’re doing right now isn’t working.

Britney Spears performs at the MTV Video Music Awards – Hard Words for her Body

Britney Spears | Britney Spears News | Wednesday, 12 September 2007

The consensus is clear: Britney Spears performed like she was sloshing blindfolded through mud at MTV’s Video Music Awards. No one disputes that the troubled pop princess royally mangled her much-heralded comeback. But what about the nastiest comments of all — those about her body? “Lard and Clear,” read Monday’s headline in the New York Post. “The bulging belly she was flaunting was SO not hot,” wrote E! Online. And so on.

Was it fair? Did Spears, lest we forget a mother of two, deserve to be held up against the standard of her once fantastically toned abs, sculpted by sessions of 1,000 tummy crunches? Or was she asking for it by choosing that unforgiving black-sequined bikini?

More profoundly, in an age where skinny models and skeletal actresses are under scrutiny for the message they’re sending young girls, what does it say that we’re excoriating a young woman for a little thickness in her middle?

Certainly people were curious to see her. The show drew 7.1 million viewers Sunday, up 23 percent over last year’s VMAs, and was the highest-rated cable program of the year among people aged 12 to 34, according to Nielsen Media Research.

On the morning after what the VH1 channel called Spears’ “already historic” performance, the blogosphere was buzzing with opinions. For every “fat” comment there was an impassioned retort. “Give her a break,” wrote one blogger on Aboutthink.com. “The girl’s had two kids — I hope I’m a size 10 after having kids!”

“OK, she isn’t fat,” wrote another. “But she isn’t fit enough to be wearing (or not wearing) what she is.”

For many observers, the issue was not so much the body, but the body in THAT outfit.

“In that ensemble, you just can’t have an ounce of anything extra,” said Janice Min, editor of the celebrity magazine US Weekly. “Many women wouldn’t eat for days if they were wearing that.”

“Did she look better than 99 percent of women? Yes,” added Min. “But compared to her earlier form, she probably didn’t look as good.”

Besides, said Min, “Britney Spears has always been about the whole package. It’s never been 100 percent about the talent. Is it sexist? Probably, but she’s built a career on an image of sexiness.”

Talk of Spears’ physique comes amid an increasingly critical focus on overly skinny actresses in Hollywood, who’ve largely replaced supermodels as the world’s fashion plates. It’s hard to pick up a celebrity magazine without a critical photo of, say, Angelina Jolie’s birdlike arms. And curvy actresses are getting positive attention, from Oscar-winner Jennifer Hudson of “Dreamgirls” to Golden Globe-winner America Ferrara of TV’s “Ugly Betty.”

In the fashion industry, there’s been an effort to promote healthier-looking models. “Girls aren’t looking as skinny this season as they did,” said Suze Yalof Scwhartz, executive editor-at-large for Glamour Magazine. “There’s food backstage. They’re looking sexier.” At Glamour, she noted, a model won’t be featured “if she shows too much clavicle.”

The nastier headlines about Spears are uncalled for, Schwartz said, but at the same time, “when you walk around the stage in a black bikini in front of millions of viewers, people are going to notice.” She added that though Spears doesn’t have the perfect body she once did, “Most women would die for the body she has now.”

An obvious question is whether a male performer would have been subjected to the same standards. Many would say no; Dave Zinczenko, editor of Men’s Health magazine, says yes.

“Listen, any time you go on national television and dance in barely any clothing, you’re going to be facing a lot of scrutiny,” Zinczenko says. “Anybody would be asking for it.” Not that many people weren’t pulling for Spears, he notes: “If she had come back, she would have been the toast of the country.”

And certainly she had a lot to come back from over the past few years: Well-documented parenting mishaps — remember the baby on her lap in the driver’s seat? A messy divorce from husband Kevin Federline. The famous crotch photos. The bizarre head-shaving incident. Rehab.

And now this.

“I kind of feel bad for her,” said Shelley Wade, a DJ at New York City pop station Z100. “She looked really nervous. And then now, I’m looking at all these blogs this morning about how everybody thinks she’s fat and I’m like, `What! Fat?’ She wasn’t fat.”

How all this will impact Spears’ career, and sales of her new album, has yet to be seen. “I just felt like that performance was make or break for her comeback,” says Wade. “Now with last night’s performance, she’s just kind of put herself back in the same boat … everybody thinks she’s a train wreck.”

But the single of “Gimme More,” the song she destroyed onstage, is off to a great start in the Top 40, says Sean Ross of Edison Research, which tracks radio play. “A great VMA performance would have probably closed the deal for her, but she’s still got until Thanksgiving to do other good performances and to release a strong album with other hits on it,” he said.

In any case, it seems it would never be wise to write an obituary of Spears’ career.

“With everything Britney, we think this is the last chance,” says Min. “The fact is, it never is.

“At least this puts attention back on her as a performer. My sense is she’d rather be judged on that than on the rehab, the drinking and the partying.”

Britney Spears Flops at MTV Awards

Britney Spears | Britney Spears News | Wednesday, 12 September 2007

An out-of-shape, out-of-touch Britney Spears has delivered what was destined to be the most talked about performance of the MTV Video Music Awards – but for all the wrong reasons.

Kicking off the show with her new single, Gimme More, Spears looked bleary and unprepared, much like her recent tabloid exploits on the streets of Los Angeles.

She walked through her dance moves with little enthusiasm. It appeared she had forgotten the entire art of lip-synching. And, perhaps most unforgivable given her once-taut frame, she looked embarrassingly out of shape

You just can’t get of Britney Spears, can you? She’s like a bad penny. Her face keeps turning up in the media; her voice on talk shows, videos and radio. She’s even had cameos in movies such as Austin Powers: Goldmember. And now even your nose can’t get away from her – there are three Britney Spears perfumes floating around for you to run screaming into the night away from.

Ok, so I’m not a Britney Spears fan, but you don’t have to be a fan of the woman to like her perfumes. At least, I don’t think so. All that’s required is a nose and an appreciation of good smells. That is to say, I liked it; I’m not sure if you will, but it can’t hurt to try!

Britney Spears perfumes come in four different flavors; Curious (released 2004 and won best perfume in 2004 and 2005), Fantasy (released 2005), In Control (released 2006), and Fantasy Midnight, the newest to the stable. Britney Spears perfumes are found in department stores and online specialty perfume stores and online department stores. You usually can find the best deals on the web – but you can’t try before you buy.

Britney Spears perfumes are made my Elizabeth Arden with complete cooperation of the star. In other words, Britney does know these are being sold in her name and is most likely getting a big slice of the perfume pie. Britney Spears is just one in a long line of celebrities diving into the world of perfumes, swimming in the same pool as Elizabeth Taylor, Prince and fellow blonde Paris Hilton.

The first Britney Spears perfume was labeled Curious. It reportedly earned over 100 million dollars following its debut and there are reports that Britney got over 10 percent of that profit. The bottle came in pink or blue and looked kind of like a deformed diamond. The scent was light, with some complaining they couldn’t smell it after a few minutes, but nearly everyone surveyed agreed that they would recommend it to a friend.

The second perfume to be introduced was Fantasy, and Elizabeth Arden went all out on the marketing campaign. Unfortunately, wearers of the new perfume weren’t impressed and many said that marketing the scent of strawberry shortcakes turned out to be more of a fantasy than the perfume did. Also noticed – the bottle looks strangely like the Love Potion Number 9 bottle.

In Control was Britney Spears next perfume. It was supposed to be a combination of Curious and Fantasy, but it turned out to be more of a bomb than a blast. Wearers constantly complained about the weak scent and the constant need to reapply the fragrance to continue smelling it, a shame since 90% of the people surveyed said they liked the smell.

Midnight is the latest Britney Spears perfume and it hasn’t done much better than the ones before it. Wearers complained that instead of being too weak, this one was so strong many people felt sick or nauseous after wearing it for a few hours. The scent also got harsh reviews, with comments such as grape bubblegum and grape kool-aid being the most common.

Expect to pay anywhere from $50 to $70 if you go shopping at a department store, or $30 to $50 if you shop at a discount perfume store (prices for a 3.3oz bottle). In the end, I think it just has to be tried to be determined. Seems like some people love it and some don’t. I’d say just try it out on you and if you like it, come back to the house and buy it.
